Idi Amin had a complex life that leads up to him becoming the third president of Uganda. I made this timeline to simply lay out the experiences Idi Amin went through throughout his entire life, from birth until death. I used different websites from my Works Cited to create this timeline and put all of the events together.

1925: Idi Amin was born in the West Nile Province of what is now the Republic of Uganda.
1946: Idi Amin joins the King's African Rifles or Britain's colonial African troops.
25 Jan. 1971: Idi Amin takes power in Uganda while the current president, Milton Obote, is in Singapore.
27 Aug. 1972: Idi Amin expels 50,000 Asians and steals their assets.
14 Sept. 1972: The US halts a $3 million loan to Uganda after Idi Amin praises Hitler in a telegram sent to the UN Secretary General.
17 Sept. 1972: An invasion by thousands of troops that were exiled supporters of Milton Obote attack from Tanzania. President Idi Amin responds by bombing Tanzanian towns.
11 Jul. 1973: Over 100 Peace Corps are ordered to leave Uganda by Idi Amin.
24 Mar. 1974: Idi Amin crushes an attempted coup. It is later reported that over 50 army officers were killed following the failed coup.
28 July 1975: Idi Amin is elected Chairman of the Organisation of African Unity.
29 June 1976: Flight 139 is hijacked by the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) lands at Entebbe Airport with 256 hostages. Then, the PLO demands the release of 53 prisoners.
3 July 1976: Israeli paratroopers freed almost all the hostages from flight 139.
28 July 1976: Following Idi Amin Dada's support for the Pro-Palestinian hijackers at Entebbe airport, Britain breaks off diplomatic relations.
7 Feb. 1977: Amnesty International accuses Idi Amin of the execution of thousands of Ugandans.
16 Feb. 1977: The Reverend, archbishop of Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and Boga-Zaïre, are killed while under arrest for sedition and arms smuggling. It was revealed that Luwum was killed on the orders of Idi Amin.
25 Feb. 1977: 240 US citizens in Uganda are held hostage by Idi Amin.
1 Mar. 1977: Idi Aminreleases the Americans held hostage in Uganda since the 25th of Feb. and suggests they leave the country.
18 June 1977: It is reported by that Idi Amin is in hiding after being wounded in an assassination attempt.
Oct. 1978: Idi Amin attempts to annex the northern Tanzanian province.
29 Mar. 1979: Idi Amin flees to his homeland as his rule of Uganda crumbles.
13 April 1979: Idi Amin is deposed as president of Uganda after the exiles. Idi Amin is said to be seeking exile in Saudi Arabia.
12 Mar. 1980: Milton Obote confirms that he will be running for president. Idi Amin Dada,is departing for Saudi Arabia following his failed invasion of northern Tanzania.
16 Aug. 2003: Idi Amin, known as the 'Butcher of Uganda' for his brutal rule as president in the 1970's, died in Saudi Arabia
on the 16th of August in the year 2003. He died from "multiple organ failures". He was been buried in Saudi Arabia.
