Dear Reader,
I chose the topic of Idi Amin's regime of Uganda because I think people should become aware of a genocide other than the Holocaust. I feel like most people only think of the Holocaust when they think of mass extinction and I am trying to change that perspective. I previously learned about this topic in World History in 9th grade. We had to do a genocide project that made us learn about every genocide that had ever occured. This genocide stood out to me because I had never heard about it until I did that project. My research question was to find out how Idi Amin impacted Uganda over his regime. I used several reliable resources such as Opposing Viewpoints, Britannica, IMDb, and Tropical Fish. I learned how brutal Idi Amin Dada ruled Uganda during the 1970's. I also learned a lot about how he grew up and the type of people he murdered. My reasearch makes a different to myself and others because it teaches us about places around the world other than the United States. It educates us on what is happening in other parts of the world.
